Dr. Smitha Pisharady

Dr. Smitha Pisharody is a well known musician(Karnatic Vocalist, Lyricist, Veena Player, Playback singer) and Music therapist.

She started her career as an Announcer in All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram and later hosted the Morning Show “Ponpulari” in Surya TV as also worked as News Reader in Surya TV.

Worked as a host for several other programs in various Malayalam channels including Amritha TV, Kairali TV and Doordarshan, Kerala, along with collegiate studies.

As a writer she Writes songs for Malayalam Movies, Albums, Devotional Albums and TV Serials and Sings for devotional music albums, advertisements, TV serials, radio programs etc.

She is a Graded Artist (Vocal Music) of All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram and is a Performing Artist of Carnatic Vocal Music and Veena Instrumental, with more than 60 conerts to her credit.

Here achievements include:
Certificate of honor from INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE (IISH), TRIVANDRUM, for the contributions in ‘Music therapy’ and Carnatic music.
Best delegate award from International seminar ‘Nadam 2015’ conducted by Mahathma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. Best News Reader award from Adoor Bhasi Cultural Forum in 2012.
In 1999 and 2002 won ‘Thiruvizha Raghavapanikar Memorial’ award from Ranjini Sangeetha Sabha Kottayam, Kerala, for the outstanding performance in academics of Music.
Participated and prized in South Zone, International and SARC Youth Festivals, Representing Kerala University on 2000 and 2001.
State Level Prize Winner for essay writing competition conducted by Kerala Forest Department in 1994.
Won Kalathilakam award in the years 1993 and 1994 from sub-district level school competitions.
