Sandra Pisharody

Sandra Pisharody, is a young Mohiniyattam artist from Irinjalakuda, Kerala. She is the senior disciple of Mohiniyattam exponent Guru Nirmala Paniker. She is a performing artist of Natanakaisiki Mohiniyatta Gurukulam, Natanakairali. Natanakairali is an institution for research, training and performing centre for traditional artforms. Sandra started learning Mohiniyattam at the age of five and had her debut performance (Arangettam) in 2008. Since then she started performing with Natanakaisiki troupe. Sandra has gone through intense abhinaya training under Guru Venuji and Guru Nirmala Paniker in gurukula sampradaya.In 2014 she has been awarded with ‘B’ grade by Doordarshan Kendra. She has also been selected by South Zone Cultural Centre, Department of Culture for special coaching in Mohiniyattam.In 2017 she has been awarded with Junior Fellowship of Kalavaahini Trust, Chennai. Sandra pisharody is extensively performing India and abroad which includes major stages like Tokyo, Brisbane, Soorya Festival, Swaralaya Festival, Nishagandhi Festival, Mohini Nrityathi festivals, IIC New Delhi etc. She is also conducting lecture demonstrations and workshops. Sandra Pisharody is going through intense practice and performance, also looking for the wider horizons of this artform.

Her Major achievements are:

  • Scholarship from Central govt of India (CCRT) in 2007
  • Debut performance(Arangettam) in 2008
  • Participant in Indo-Japan cultural exchange in 2010
  • Two years special training with the assistance of south zone cultural centre,Ministry of culture.-2011
  • Doordarshan ‘B’ grade artist -2014
  • Kalavaahini trust, chennai- Junior fellowship-2017

She is daughter of Irinjalakkuda Vadakke Pisharath Radhakrishnan and Rani Radhakrishnan.
