Soumya Satheesh

Soumya Sathish is one of the leading exponent of traditional art forms of “Mohiniyattam” and “Bharathanatyam”. She is running a well established dance school in Ernakulam, initiating large number of tiny tots into the field of traditional dance. She along with her disciples have made a lot of scintillating and well-articulated stage performances which were well appreciated. She has also choreographed and performed poetic verses of leading poets which were well received by the audience and widely reported in the media.

She started her Dance from the tender age of 5 and is deciple of Kalamandalam Sridevi Gopinath.

She has won many awards and accolades right from the school days and was the winner of 1st prize in 1988 State School Kalolsavam and later won “Kalathilakam” in Calicut University Kalolsavam in 1990.

She has also made her foray into acting and has acted in some Malayalam and Tamil movies named Nivedyam, Sulthan, Sundara Pandyan, Pandyanad.
She is continuing her good work in the field of dance with active support of her well wishers and seeks blessings and support from good Samaritans who are interested in the growth and development of these dance forms by directing many Kavyashilpams from famous works of Changampuzha, Sugathakumari, Vailoppilli, A R Rajaraja Varma, S Ramshan Nair, ONV Kurup, Akkitham.


In 2014 she won Kalasagar Award for her contributions to Bharathanatyam.
Soumya is the elder daugher of Late Mannanur Unni and Rishinaradamanalam Pisharath Kshamadevi. Killikkurussimangalam Chakrath Pisharath Satish is her husband and they have two children, Adv. Arjun and Nandakrishnan.

Her only brother Sunu R Pisharody is the Vice Chairman of Shoranur Municipality, also owner of Pisharody group of establishments.
